AGM

The AGM is held annually in September in the Junior School Main Hall. We hope to tempt you with free cheese & wine and everyone is welcome. The new Committee will be elected during the meeting, and if you are interested in getting involved at any level we would love to see you - but you do not commit yourself to anything just by being there! You can come just to enjoy the refreshments and find out what HENSA achieved last year.

If you would like to be more involved, the list of Committee positions (all of which are up for re-election every year) is on the How It Works page, and we would particularly like to encourage new parents to the school - you do not have to have had any previous experience to get involved. HENSA is always open to more people and new ideas, and everyone is welcome to be a 'general member', i.e. come along to meetings, help to plan what HENSA is going to do over the coming year, decide where to spend the money that we raise and find out more about what is happening in your school. There are no obligations and you can do as much or as little as you like, but the more people the merrier and many hands make light work!! Please come along and help support your school.

Autumn Term

Christmas Bazaar

Amazingly popular with the children and a significant fund-raiser for the school, the Bazaar produces vast quantities of frenetic energy and is all over in about an hour! Teachers and parents work hard to prepare and run the Bazaar every year - probably with the knowledge that it is safer behind the scenes! This year we raised nearly £1000.

Christmas Card Competition

With the aim of selling Christmas Cards as a fund-raiser, HENSA ran a competition to produce winning designs for the cards which were then sold through the school and at the Bazaar. The scheme went down well and we made £227. With more time for advance planning, it is thought we can do even better next year.

Spring Term

School Performances

HENSA provides the 'free' refreshments during the interval of the performances, the cost of which is covered by the ticket price.

Spring Term Socials

Each spring we organise a social event, where the focus is more on promoting the school community than raising large amounts of money. This event has taken various forms in past years, a couple are listed below.

Race Night

Our first race night, but such a success that it looks set to be the first of many! Betting on the gee-gees was optional but was neck and neck with the bar in the popularity stakes...

Barn Dance

A purely social event, with parents and children of all ages having a great time learning how to doh-see-doh with the best of them. This event has always gone down well in previous years but this year we hired the fabulous Gypsy's Kiss and it became a sell-out! The cost of the band and low ticket prices meant that we didn't make a profit from it, but the success of the night makes a repeat highly likely. Have a look in the Gallery for more photos of the night!

Summer Term

Kids' Summer Disco

I think it's safe to say that they always enjoy themselves at the disco! Oh, the outfits, the moves, the poses and posturing, the noise level, the sheer exuberance! You should have seen it! As usual, the teachers did a sterling job in crowd control and HENSA provided the 'bar' and bar staff – safe behind the counter – and made £201.56.

Midsummer BBQ

A relatively new event, the BBQ was instantly a big hit and becomes more popular every year. (Parents of Year 2 children are invited to welcome them to the Junior School.) The brilliant and indefatigable entertainer, Pizzazz, was there again this year and kept our hoards of children happily occupied, while we relaxed and chatted in the evening sunshine. Well, OK - it drizzled a little bit at the beginning and it wasn't actually sunny, but it was warm enough for us all to have an excellent evening, and a good time was had by all! The BBQ and bar kept the energy levels up, and made £519.56 for HENSA funds.
